Haskallah means 'Enlightenment'.
The concept of an umbrella vehicle for disparate branches of Judaism and a platform for developing Communities began in August, 2002.
In the ensuing period this concept has evolved in to Jewish Internet Outreach - with its main objective as enlarging the Congregation and Membership of each Affiliate Jewish Community.
It is intended to represent the promotional interests of Jewish Communities in various world regions and the first of these is the Association of Central European Jewish Organisations composed of Affiliates to Haskallah which are Communities resident in Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Switzerland.
The prime twin methods are:
Out-reach: Disseminating information about Judaism, Individual Communities, Contacts, Events, Seminars, Workshops, Conferences
Inward: Facilitating contact, from Jews, those with Jewish roots and non-Jews seeking to convert to Judaism with Communities providing spiritual and secular advice and Membership.
It is hope that this will:
facilitate a greater opportunity for study of Judaism,
continue and grow youth programs,
share resources without compromise to individual community's religious commitments
to act as a conduit for the widest possible information regarding Jewish facilities and news.
enable each element of the Jewish community to express its commitment to Judaism as fully and as openly as possible
to make a statement that positive communication between different elements leads to a strengthening of the contribution of each.
All activities within participating groups should reflect the lead position established by Judaism in ethics and morality.
